Can I use an adhesive other than contact adhesive (also known as contact cement) to install cork flooring or wall tiles?Updated a month ago
Most water-based, non-contact adhesives rely on water evaporation to form a bond. However, cork tiles tend to expand and curl at the edges during this process. As the adhesive cures and water evaporates, the center of the tile bonds securely, but the edges may lift and fail to adhere properly. Contact adhesive prevents this issue by pre-drying before bonding, ensuring full and even adhesion. Therefore, for glue-down cork flooring and wall tiles, we recommend using a contact adhesive.
