Is Cork Insulation REACH Compliant? | Jelinek Cork USA

Is cork insulation REACH and RoHS compliant?

Jelinek Cork insulation material (semi-rigid and expanded cork) is a natural material. It is produced by heating cork granules with steam, which causes the cork to expand and release its natural resin (suberin). This natural binder allows the material to fuse together without the addition of synthetic adhesives or chemicals. Cork insulation is a clean, natural material that complies with REACH requirements and is free from RoHS-restricted substances.

REACH: Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals
Under REACH (the European Union’s chemical regulation), Jelinek insulation cork does not contain any Substances of Very High Concern (SVHCs) above regulatory thresholds.

RoHS: Restriction of Hazardous Substances
RoHS applies specifically to electrical and electronic equipment and is therefore not directly applicable to cork insulation. However, Jelinek insulation cork does not contain any of the substances restricted under RoHS, such as lead, mercury, or cadmium.
