Do Cork Wall Tiles Change Color in Sunight? | Jelinek Cork Canada

Do cork wall tiles change color in UV light?

Yes, cork wall and floor tiles, as a natural product, may change color over time when exposed to natural light. Noticable fading may occur over several months to several years, depending on the duration and intensity of sun exposure.

Cork will tend to fade, while most woods will darken/mellow. You can either accept the fading as part of the natural progression of cork, or you can apply UV window treatments and/or UV protective finish to the cork. Jelinek Cork has not tested UV finishes. While we've had customers report that they have successfully applied a finish, we aren't aware of the specific brands/types they have used.
