Can I install cork flooring over radiant heat?
Cork can be installed over radiant heat; however, several factors should be considered.
- Cork flooring is insulating, so cork flooring will not get as warm as quickly as other flooring, like porcelain tiles.
- Radiant flooring under cork should never be warmer than 28 °C (85°F).
- Floating flooring can be installed directly over radiant heating pads; however, glue-down flooring requires a solid subfloor in between to adhere to the cork flooring.
- Cork flooring should be allowed to acclimate in the room where it will be installed for at least 72 hours prior to installation.
