Shade variations tend to be less noticeable on tiles with more intricate patterns, as the design helps mask differences. Likewise, variations can be more apparent on tiles with neutral or simple patterns. 

Over time, cork also tends to lighten in appearance due to exposure to light (UV) and natural aging which is frequently seen with cork flooring and wall tiles.
